Measuring Up

I have been meaning to make a growth chart for um, about 4 years now. Ok, maybe not really 4, but at least 2! Even though it is a little late, I finally got around to it!

What I used:
  • (2) 3' pieces of wood (just some cheap stuff from the craft store that is really thin)
  • (1) 2' piece of wood (same as the 3' pieces)
  • Cream paint
  • Brown paint marker
  • Brown ribbon
  • Brown tacks
  • Tape measure
  • Scissors

I only needed a 4'4" piece of wood, but couldn't find one, hence the (2) 3' pieces. So, I glued them together, and used the 2' piece as a support behind the crease.

See how thin they are?!

My supportive piece across the seam on the back
I then measured the length out that I needed, and cut with scissors. I'm telling ya, these are thin pieces of wood! After my length was cut, I painted the front cream, and measured out inches, starting at 1'11" and going to 6'2". This way I had 2" on either side of my 2' and 6' marks.

I used the brown paint marker to make the inch marks darker, and to draw on my numbers.

I glued a piece of brown ribbon to the top to be able to hang the growth chart up, but because the wood was so thin, it bowed in the middle wear the support piece was. I was able to just use brown tacks to push through the wood and into the wall.

Added ribbon

The push tacks I ended up using
Here is the final growth chart hanging on our bedroom wall!

All done!
This was a very easy project to do, that I should have done a long time ago!
